What We’re About
Aloha
Aloha isn’t just a greeting in Hawaii. It’s a way of life. As defined in Hawaiian law,
“Aloha means mutual regard and affection and extends warmth in caring with no obligation in return.
“Aloha is the essence of relationships in which each person is important to every other person for collective existence.”
We extend our aloha to you, as we strive to preserve and embody it among ourselves. Welcome to our virtual beach!
Tradition
Outrigger canoeing has a rich tradition in the Pacific Islander cultures. From the original hand-carved koa canoes to today’s sleek fiberclass racing canoes, the vessel may change but the traditions don’t. We strive to honor those traditions in our canoes, and to share them.
Currently we have a small fleet of four OC6 canoes, two traditional Hawaiian rope-rigged canoes which we use for the love of paddling them and to keep the tradition alive, plus two new, light canoes of the unlimited class which we use for racing and just for fun.
Joy
To experience the joy of being on the water together, and carrying that over to our lives off the water, is an essential reason for our existence as a club. If you’d like to share that joy with us, come try us out. We welcome guest paddlers, prospective new members, and visitors throughout the year.
Kapolioka’ehukai is a 501(3)c organization, registered with the State of California.
